NUOVO RINASCIMENTO Francais Italiano

Luca Sinescalco about the Jacquounain's works

MIRROR
A postmodern Narcisse turns your gaze on his soul and you discover prisms and cubist figures: geometric resolution of the truth.
NARCISSE
Narcissus - protagonist of the Mirror is inserted into this work in a complex scenario with a typically surrealist style. Characters and symbols appearing fragmentarily from the artist's unconscious reflect a transcognized (sur) reality.
VENICE
The baroque motif is immersed here in a judicious use of the green color. This time, luxury and pomp take precedence over nostalgia.
BLACK MIRROR
The mirror motif is inserted into "Donna's with ferret" baroque frame. An elegant pastiche full of nostalgia.
SIRIUS - THE STAR OF THE DOG
Mythological Hellenic-Egyptian origine of Sirius is treated in a dialogue between painting and sculpture. Research on the spherical figure gives harmony and serenity, according to Chagall's lesson..
LUTETIA I
Lutetia Parisiorum was the city of Roman Gaul, then refounded by the Merovingians and ancestor of the French capital. The archaic reminder to the city of foundation, combined with elements contemporaries, such as the motorcycle in the foreground, creates a family grid that reflects the millennial identity of Paris.
LUTETIA II
Here Lutetia shows itself in a new aesthetic form. The reticular structure prevails: a disturbing form which alludes to the power of relationships but also to the overwhelming imposition of relationships on the alienated individual in urban modernity.
LUTETIA III
A third representation of Lutèce. Attention to figuration prevails here over the symbolic intention.
THE FULL ABSENCE THAT ATTRACTS
A dense forest - condensation of references enigmatic and disturbing - attracts the exotic face represented in the symbolic blue triangle. A desperate search for the lost center.
BLACK SATANIZED STONE FOREST
The sculpture represents a cat with features disturbing, almost demonic. To remind us that cats are traditionally considered like the guardians of the Other World, thanks to their privileged contact with the subtle world.
YOU ARE LOOKING BACK - YOU ARE DEAD (SALIF)
This skater, who is part from the Gothicus series, reveals how the strange can shake the human soul even in gestures of the most mundane daily life. The character's loneliness - the only protagonist of the work, away from the faceless figure in the background - embodies the inevitability of modern alienation.
IMPRESSIONS OF AFRICA
Obvious expression of the artist's "mystical exoticism". Human figures, with African features but dressed in European style, in an almost Victorian style, evolve in a lunar landscape, where the rocks reproduce metamorphically the silhouettes of these strange characters.
I HAD THE COURAGE TO LOOK BACK
The work with a lyrical symbolic flavor. The protagonist advances on a bicycle towards the observer. He "had the courage" to go ahead. But here, if you take a closer look at the work, you can see that the way he traveled mainly from a distant image - probably a memory from his childhood, a reflection of his own self. We can only go forward by looking back: past and future, memory and identity are one. Be aware of it.
